Teach Your Students About Giving AND Provide a Simple Way to Spread the Gospel:

Pack Shoebox Gifts

Pack A ShoeboxAboutFAQ's

WHAT is Operation Christmas Child?

Operation Christmas Child is a hands-on way for you to bless children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts. We collect the shoeboxes and distribute them in the name of Jesus Christ to children living in vulnerable situations around the world.

WHY get involved?

This project provides a two-fold outcome for your students. It provides the opportunity for you to teach your students about giving, and is a simple way of sharing the Gospel!

  • Your students will fill shoeboxes with gifts that will be sent to children in need all over the world that may never have received a gift before.

  • Shoebox gifts are also opening opportunities for the Gospel to be shared. Many of the children who receive shoeboxes are offered to participate in a 12-lesson discipleship program called The Greatest Journey. More than 26.5 million children have enrolled in this program since 2009!

“Operation Christmas Child is a proven way to enable our students to bless the lives of children overseas, some of whom have never received a gift of any kind. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Samaritan’s Purse!”

HOW to run this project at your school?

1. SHARE about Operation Christmas Child in class, chapel, or an assembly. We have lesson plans, colouring sheets, and videos available via the button below.

2. GIVE each student a How to Pack a Shoebox brochure that provides all the information for parents/guardians to be able to pack a shoebox with their child/children. Students can use a regular shoebox, or we have pre-printed shoeboxes available.

3. PACK shoeboxes full of toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. Please ensure each shoebox includes a $10 donation to provide for shipping and other project costs. This can be included as cash in the shoebox or can be donated online.

4. COLLECT shoeboxes during our National Collection Month, October. Consider offering a prize to the class that packs the most shoeboxes, or make a fun celebration day and wear Christmas shirts!

5. PRAY for the children who will receive your shoebox gifts to be open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

6. DROP-OFF the gift-filled shoeboxes at a designated location around Australia (excluding NSW) and New Zealand during 1-31 October, or 1-14 November for NSW only .
