Samaritan’s Purse is Preparing to Assist Bushfire Victims in Western Australia

AS BUSHFIRES HAVE DEVASTATED PARTS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA, SAMARITAN’S PURSE IS PREPARING TO HELP HOMEOWNERS IN THE WAKE OF THESE TERRIFYING FLAMES.

Samaritan’s Purse is currently readying its resources and local partners on the ground in Perth, Western Australia as ongoing bushfires engulf the region, burning over 9,000 hectares of land and destroying over 86 homes.

The bushfires began on 1 February, burning north-east of Perth. On top of current COVID-19 lockdowns, emergency warnings are still active in the Perth region, leaving many Western Australian residents in critical need of relief and support.

Samaritan’s Purse is working with church partners on the ground to identify the needs of disaster-affected homeowners and provide urgent help in Jesus’ Name.

“Many Western Australians have suffered as a result of these terrible fires. The blaze has been so strong and COVID-19 restrictions have created challenging conditions for all relief services,” said Dan Stephens, Disaster Response Manager of Samaritan’s Purse Australia.

“Despite these challenges, Samaritan’s Purse will do what it takes to respond in any way we can. Please pray for the many devastated families, and for those who are responding.”

This time last year, Samaritan’s Purse deployed disaster relief teams to Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales in response to Australia’s horrific bushfires along the eastern states. Our staff and volunteers came alongside devastated homeowners to clear damaged properties, salvage personal belongings and distribute emergency fire kits while providing help and support in Jesus’ Name.
