OUR TEAMS ARE HELPING RAIN-WEARY HOMEOWNERS IN THE MID NORTH COAST WHERE HISTORIC FLOODING STRUCK AFTER RECORD RAINFALL IN THE REGION.

Volunteers are hard at work in the Port Macquarie, NSW, area where heavy rains caused severe flooding and widespread damage. Many homes were filled with muddy water, mould and debris.

“I woke up at 3am and as I went to step out of bed, I stepped into water,” said Ann, a homeowner in Dunbogan. “Once I came outside, the water was up to my chest and all I could think of was to get to higher ground.”

Ann is one of many homeowners that Samaritan’s Purse volunteers are helping in the Port Macquarie area.

Our team is assisting hurting homeowners in Jesus’ Name by removing waterlogged walls and flooring, ridding homes of debris and salvaging belongings not destroyed by the flood.

Serving to be the light

Helping flood victims is a great honour for Samaritan’s Purse volunteer Kaitlyn*. She has served with the ministry for many years and sees it as a privilege to come alongside those in need.

“We are working in homes to remove anything that got waterlogged, as the water can be contaminated. So we’re taking out flooring, walls up to where they’re dry and kitchen cabinets before sanitising to create a cleaner living space and reduce the risk of future mould issues.”

“But the Samaritan’s Purse emphasis is not so much on the home. The home is just an avenue to the homeowner’s heart. What we’re really here to do is homeowner care – that’s my favourite part.”

“There’s no greater gift than to be able to honour God with something hands on like this. We can actually put our arm around people and see them smile again,” said Kaitlyn.

Please pray for hurting homeowners as they continue to recover and for our teams who are working hard to help in Jesus’ Name.
