Important COVID-19 Updates

State Specific Information

We’re looking forward to a great Operation Christmas Child season as we prayerfully consider ways to modify our collection and processing in light of COVID-19. We are monitoring local, state and national guidelines and making adjustments to help protect the health of those involved in preparing shoebox gifts.

Western Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and New Zealand

Shoebox packing and collection will proceed as normal. Drop-off Locations will be open from 1 October 2020, with social distancing and contactless collection procedures in place. Registration for shoebox processing centres will be open from 2 September 2020 and will operate in compliance with COVID-19 regulations.

In some regions across Victoria, where public movements are permitted and safe, Operation Christmas Child activities are taking place – this includes traditional shoebox packing and some covid-safe Resource Pick Up Points being available. However, in the Melbourne metro area, all Operation Christmas Child activities are currently suspended in accordance with local lockdown regulations. If you are able, we encourage you to continue to pack a shoebox this year. For this year only, the processing centre in Victoria will not be open. Packed shoeboxes will be collected as normal through drop off locations and sent to Sydney for processing and shipping to receiving countries.

For this year only and due to COVID-19, the processing centre in Queensland will not be open. Shoebox packing and collection will continue as normal, however all packed shoeboxes will be sent to Sydney to be processed and shipped to receiving countries.

South Australia

Due to recent COVID-19 restrictions, the processing centre in South Australia has been closed.
