Empower and mobilise volunteers for involvement in the Operation Christmas Child (OCC) project in Australia and New Zealand.

Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is the evangelical ministry arm of Samaritan’s Purse Australia/New Zealand, and one of the world’s largest child evangelism projects, where gift filled shoeboxes are hand delivered to children in developing countries, demonstrating God’s love and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through well-developed evangelism and discipleship programs such as “The Greatest Journey”.

Working as part of the OCC National Leadership Team, and working with the OCC Staff Team, you will be a key spiritual and ministry leader in the mobilisation and empowerment of volunteers across Australia and New Zealand that make this ministry project possible. With a particular focus on volunteer engagement and experience, you empower, equip and resource the OCC team to attract, engage, develop and retain high quality and aligned Year-Round (Connect) Volunteers together with Short-term Volunteers and Project Leaders.

The key responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
• Working with the National Ministry Manager and OCC Team, facilitate, champion, resource, and develop the engagement experience of all those who volunteer within OCC, including Connect Volunteers, Short-term Volunteers, and Project Leaders.
• Working with the Regional Ministry Leaders to provide spiritual leadership of OCC Volunteers and Pastoral Care of Volunteer Teams.
• Train and equip staff and volunteer leaders to recruit, develop and lead volunteer Area Teams in all major centres throughout Australia and New Zealand in accordance with the High Impact Volunteer Ministry model.
• Oversee national volunteer recruitment strategies by initiating and creating the accompanying recruitment resources.
• Oversee the recruitment, on-boarding, training and resourcing of Project Leaders and all Short-term Volunteers.
• In conjunction with OCC leaders, develop and implement all OCC volunteer services and systems within Australia and New Zealand.
• Oversee and manage the content and operation of the OCC National Volunteer Portal and volunteer database.
• Oversee the development of training resources to equip Connect Volunteers with practical ‘how to’ information and the heart of the biblical, High Impact volunteer model.
• Support and equip the Australian and New Zealand Field Team and Connect Volunteers through identifying needs and collaborating with the Global Field Leaders and other departments to create practical resources and materials.

Essential
• Demonstrate Christian values aligned with the ministries’ Statement of Faith and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for service.
• Leadership – a servant leader, with demonstrated Christian Ministry leadership of teams toward successful outcomes
• Team Building – Experience and proven success in volunteer recruitment, engagement and development
• Relationship Management – effective relationship building with internal and external stakeholders
Desired
• Proficient computer literacy (intermediate to advanced MS Office), experience working with databases.
• Qualifications in one or more of the areas of leadership, training, human resources, volunteer oversight, organisations development or pastoral care would be advantageous
