International Disaster Relief
World Refugee Week 2025
13 June 2025
This World Refugee Week, we pause to pray for the more than 100 million people worldwide who find themselves displaced and unable to return home.
Over 100,000 Armenian refugees have fled their homeland of Nagorno-Karabakh, creating a huge
humanitarian crisis. Conflict has forced a mass exodus of the Armenian people from the Nagorno-Karabakh region, leaving many without basic necessities, such as shelter, warm clothing, and hygiene supplies.
The UN refugee agency called for urgent international help, sharing that “many are hungry,
exhausted, and need immediate assistance”. Of those fleeing, elderly people, women, and children are most vulnerable.
A Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) is on the ground in Armenia, and we are working with local church partners to deliver relief as tens of thousands of displaced families arrive in need of shelter, food, water, and other relief. There are also medical needs as dozens of people were burned in a gas explosion.
