Samaritans Purse is seeking medical professionals to serve on our Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART). The Samaritans Purse DART program is committed to meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease, and natural disaster. We stand ready to respond at a moments notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes. The DART specialises in providing water, food, shelter, and medical care in Jesus’ Name.
As deployments occur with little or no warning, DART members must have a flexible schedule and availability to deploy. DART members can be deployed to dangerous places, the living conditions can be challenging and the work days long and hard. However, Samaritans Purse believes in being the first on the ground in order to serve and help those who have suffered through a catastrophic event in the name of Jesus Christ.
How serving on the DART roster works:
DART members are Volunteers. They are paid a stipend when they are deployed to a response. Practically, this means that they have careers and life circumstances separate from DART, but when Samaritans Purse initiates a response, we call available DART members to respond and deploy. While a DART member is deployed, Samaritans Purse provides compensation and covers their response-related living and travel costs.

The OR Registered Nurse is responsible for facilitating safe and effective surgical procedures during an international DART surgical response.
➡️ Emergency Room RN
The ER Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical care to patients in emergency and triage settings, during an international DART medical response. This may include care of patients in a fast-paced hospital or an outpatient setting.
➡️ Intensive Care Unit RN
The ICU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical care to patients in severe or unstable condition during an international DART medical response. This may include care of ICU-level patients in a hospital or during specialised responses such as a Respiratory Care Unit.
➡️ Step Down RN
The Step-Down Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical care to patients in severe or unstable condition during an international DART medical response. This may include care of patients in a hospital or during specialised responses such as a Respiratory Care Unit.
➡️ Medical Surgical RN
The Medical Surgical Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical care to patients in both out-patient clinics and in-patient hospital settings during an international DART medical response. This may include care of trauma patients in an emergency setting.
➡️ Paediatric RN
The Paediatric Registered Nurse is responsible for providing clinical care to paediatric patients in both out-patient clinics and in-patient hospital settings during an international DART medical response. This may include care of paediatric trauma patients in an emergency setting.
➡️ OBGYN RN
The OB Registered Nurse is responsible for the care of women and newborns and ongoing evaluation and nursing care of all OB patients through their discharge during an international DART medical response.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must maintain a personal relationship with and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, as well as able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

✅ Minimum two years nursing experience in a hospital setting, of which at least one year is in the specialty field
✅ Relevant clinical experience within the last five years is required
✅ Completion of accredited training as a Registered Nurse with current active AUS certification is required.
✅ Available on short notice for immediate 3-4 week deployment, 1-2 times/year
✅ Able to serve within a very fast-paced environment, 7 days/week for extended hours while on deployment
✅ Ability to problem solve and think critically in high stress, low-resourced environments
✅ Demonstrated travel, volunteer or work experience in developing countries
✅ Highly detail-oriented in all areas of work
✅ Willingness to work in unstable, insecure areas
✅ Able to work as a member of a team, particularly cross-culturally
✅ Teaching experience desirable, but not required
