Mr Hem is a pastor of Tom Nob Church in Cambodia. He is married to Thuong, and they have four children between the ages of 7 and 22 years old.
Since 2015, Mr Hem has been living in Tom Nob, where he has served the Lord preaching the Good News to villagers nearby his house. In the beginning, there were 12 elders and 10 children who accepted Jesus Christ, so Mr Hem gathered them to worship God at his house.
He prayed to God every day about the church and seeing more people come to know the hope he has in Christ. In 2021, the number of participants were growing slowly, but he continued praying for an increase. God answered his prayer, and the number of people attending the church started to grow so much that they couldn’t all fit in his home, so he started building another small house for worshipping.
In 2022 he met Samaritan’s Purse staff who had conducted a meeting at his village, and he began serving as a Church Partner. Once he started serving as a partner, the church grew to 65 people and started to outgrow the building again! He prayed for a church building that would accommodate 100 people, and this year the Lord responded to his prayer through Samaritan’s Purse. He received funds to build a new 7x16m church building and accompanying two toilet latrine cubicle.
Pastor Hem said that he was encouraged that the Lord faithfully answered his prayer. Now over 100 people come to worship God at the new church.
He said “I would like to say thank you to Samaritan’s Purse who helped support me and the church families. Without Samaritan’s Purse the Good News would not be expanding in my village”.
