Samaritan’s Purse has sent two Disaster Relief Units to help hurting homeowners in Florida.
Hurricane Ian, a deadly Category 4 storm, made landfall Wednesday, bringing powerful winds, heavy rain, and a massive storm surge. It was one of the strongest storms to ever hit Florida.
Samaritan’s Purse is coordinating our response with local emergency management and church partners.
“Hurricane Ian is going to impact the lives of millions of people,” said Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse. “We are praying for everyone in its path and already mobilising our team to respond in Jesus’ Name.”
Volunteers will be needed soon to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus. Teams will muck out flooded homes, cut downed trees, and tarp roofs.
Samaritan’s Purse continues to monitor Ian as it is expected intensify again and could strike the South Carolina coast at hurricane strength.
Please pray for the safety of area residents and for our teams. Pray for local churches facing their own losses even as they seek to minister to hurting homeowners. Pray for God’s mercy on these hurting Florida communities and that He would touch lives as we work in Jesus’ Name.
