Since April 2023, an unrelenting and suffocating civil war in Sudan has displaced over 10 million people. While some have fled to surrounding nations, the majority of Sudanese have sought refuge within more stable areas of the country. As this influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs) overwhelms parts of the nation—and as warring factions make certain areas inaccessible—Sudan finds itself mired in the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
In Gedaref alone, where the Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospital has been established, there are an estimated 3 million IDPs. With medical aid largely unavailable and local hospitals overrun, the Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospital serves as a beacon of hope for the thousands of hurting families forced out of their homes by war.
Our hospital will offer lifesaving resources for the hurting people of Sudan, including Caesarean sections for expecting mothers, OB/GYN care, and necessary medicine, nutrition, and hydration resources. The hospital, capable of operating 24 hours a day, can treat up to 36 inpatients at a time and is equipped with a fully-functioning operating room.
Samaritans’ Purse also continues to provide vital aid to other locations in Sudan. Pray that the Lord would bring relief, comfort, and strength to the millions of suffering people in Sudan. Pray also for our DART members working in Sudan as they provide this essential medical care in Jesus’ Name.
Our Samaritan’s Purse Emergency Field Hospital in Gedaref, Sudan, is providing critical care to pregnant mothers and their children fleeing violence.
As Samaritan’s Purse sent critical aid, thousands of displaced families are gaining hope for a hope a better future amid uncertainty.
God stitches together hope and joy from the tattered fabric of lives marked by loss, displacement, and grief.
