Samaritan’s Purse facilitates opportunities for churches and schools to mobilise their faith into action. Samaritan’s Purse offers opportunities throughout Australia and New Zealand for groups to volunteer through our Australian Disaster Relief and Operation Christmas Child projects.
Through Australian and New Zealand Disaster Relief groups can serve communities in need after a disaster or through our community service projects.
Through Operation Christmas Child groups can have the opportunity pack shoeboxes and join us at one of our processing centres located around the country.
Join our Australian Disaster Relief Team to respond to disasters like bushfires and floods around Australia. The team help homeowners after a disaster with jobs such as sifting ash, clearing land of debris, cleaning homes, removing mouldy walls and more. This can occur quickly after a disaster has occurred, or return a year or more later to support a community still in need. All logistics (including flights, accommodation, equipment and supplies) are managed by Samaritan’s Purse.
By packing Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes your church or school is giving children all around the world the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Simply gather a group together, fill shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts and send them back to us so we can ship to children in need around the world. We work with local churches in country to distribute the shoeboxes and train local leaders to teach children about the love of Jesus.
This is a seasonal opportunity that occurs around October/November each year. After individuals pack shoeboxes they are sent to Processing Centres throughout Australia and New Zealand to be checked and prepared for shipping. Groups can signup and help with a range of jobs that need to be completed, from checking shoeboxes, to packing outer cartons and filling shipping containers. Tasks will be allocated when you check-in, and training will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing and enclosed footwear, and bring a water bottle and your own food.
