As the number of student enrolments continues to increase, Phkam School is at capacity. The local government and community council have requested a new building to expand their facility to continue educating the children of Pkham.
That’s the truth behind everything we do at Samaritan’s Purse. In places like Cambodia, we are working with teachers and schools to make sure children in disadvantaged communities have the advantage of a strong education. Illiteracy has prevented many Cambodian youths from pursuing careers, and it’s a terrible obstacle for those who would like to read the Bible and learn more about Jesus Christ.
In the ensuing conversation, as Jesus explained what it means to be born again, He addressed Nicodemus as “the teacher of Israel” (John 3:10) and challenges him to understand “heavenly things” (verse 12).
That night was when Jesus taught the greatest of all lessons: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Students that Samaritan’s Purse has been working with are thriving with grades well above national standards. Some of them want to become teachers, and others want to pursue careers in technology, law, and other specialties. Please pray that God will prepare their hearts and give them opportunities to feel the comfort and love of Christ through the work of our staff.
The new building will house five additional classrooms, bringing the total to 23 and provide much needed expansion for the growing number of students enrolled for 2023 and beyond.
Implementing STEM provides students a path to use their education to broaden their interests and ambition beyond their generational circumstances.
An additional multi stance latrine block and hand-washing basins will also be constructed to help provide access to good hygiene, reducing waterborne illnesses and infection in children.
